The Hive launched a Traineeships course in September 2022. Initially aimed at students from schools within our Multi-academy trust, it has now grown to include schools throughout the borough and beyond.
The programme is aimed at learners aged 16 to 19 who are keen to improve their employability skills and aspire to move on to apprenticeships.
The programme is suitable for learners who are working towards Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy and who are capable of developing independent travel skills by the end of the traineeship programme.
The students spend 2 days in college and school to continue to work on their literacy, numeracy, IT and employability skills and 2 days in the work place. On their work placements, the learners are supported by Job Coaches who support them in their progress towards independence in their job tasks. The Trainees’ work placements are matched against their aspirations. Trainees are also given the opportunity to complete work related training courses such as First Aid at Work and Manual Handling.
