I am Ruth Martin and I am the Placement Coordinator at Hive College. It is my role to find out what aspirations our LIVE students have and to help them achieve them by matching them with appropriate employers for work placements, Supported Internships and ultimately paid work.
In their first weeks on the LIVE programme, I will hold a Careers Appointment with each student to discuss their aspirations and to put together an action plan of how we will work together to reach them. I will then contact our network of businesses to find the right work placement for the student.
Whilst on work placement, our students are supported on a one to one basis by our highly skilled Work Placement Supervisors. It is their job to ensure the safety of the student and to monitor the progress of that student as they become more independent in their work placement.
If a student is successful on a work placement they may be offered a Supported Internship which is a 6 to 12 months programme that leads to a paid job. We have a history of success at The Hive with 80% of our LIVE students moving into paid employment.
