Wilson Stuart School and University College Birmingham have a history of providing outstanding education and training. We have been working together since September 2013 when we launched our programme LIVE @ the Hive which has been designed to support students aged 19-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities into employment and promote their independence and confidence.
In April 2016 we were awarded Independent Specialist Provision status and formed a new company called the Wilson Stuart University College Birmingham Partnership Trust (WSUCBPT)
In September 2013 Wilson Stuart School and University College Birmingham formed a partnership and created a vocational study programme called LIVE @ The Hive. The programme is designed to support students aged 19-25 with special educational needs and disabilities into employment and promote their independence and confidence.
In April 2016 we were awarded Independent Specialist College status and formed a new college called Wilson Stuart UCB Partnership Trust (WSUCBPT).
The LIVE study programme continues to go from strength to strength with increasing success stories of our students gaining apprenticeships and paid employment with prestigious employers across the Birmingham area.
In September 2016 we created an additional study programme called STRIVE @ The Hive which provides students with profound and multiple learning difficulties and their families with the independence and confidence they need to take part in the wider community.
In September 2017 we created another study programme, called THRIVE @ The Hive which provides students with opportunities to carry out volunteering roles in a safe environment.
In September 2018 we added an additional pathways to the THRIVE programme, which focuses on improving students communication skills.
All study programmes at the Hive incorporate activities that will prepare young people with special education needs for adulthood.
The ongoing development of a highly successful independent Special College continues. We constantly strive for excellence, seeking innovative and collaborative ways of delivering a curriculum that meets the needs of our young adults.
Our students are delightful, hardworking and keen to learn and the HIVE is a very happy environment for both students and staff.
